Jiboner Joyogan on Radio ABC

The FM session at Radio ABC 89.2 FM every Saturday heats up with eminent film directors, photographers and lyricists at exactly 12.30pm. Hosted by RJ Pompa and RJ Shaon, this new arrangement is a medley of music and discussion and is a welcome addition to the FM playlist of the town.
The prime objective of the show is to bring talented film makers, photographers and lyricists to the limelight, who can share their inspirations and aspirations, and their hopes and dreams with the audience. Every week there will be established names in the field and past winners of the contest who express their views about how this particular area of creative arts can be developed further in Bangladesh and the bottlenecks it faces. As globally renowned filmmaker Tareque Masud said in the first episode, “In order to promote these fields, the youth who are involved, need to be patronised and constructive criticism is required as well.”
To this, Shibu Kumar Shill added that without the patronage of media establishments, kutir shilpo (handicrafts) can never reach the mainstream.
The lack of financial benefits has moved many talents out of their areas of interest in Bangladesh and perhaps “Celebrating Life” can be a platform which not only provides financial benefits, albeit one-shot, but also provides an industry launch pad using which budding talents can fast forward their careers. The winners’ work is being showcased on Channel i, Radio ABC, The Daily Star newspaper, Star Insight magazine, and at 12 districts where the “Celebrating Life” festivals are organised. The opportunities of exposure are enormous for these winners. Furthermore, the contest also fills a tremendous gap of generating awareness of fields that, to this day, remain grossly under-explored in Bangladesh.
So join in to the weekly programme to sway heads to the winning songs of “Celebrating Life”, featuring artistes like Runa Laila, Subir Nandi, Shakila Zafar, Krishno Koli, Bappa Mazumder, Fahmida Nabi, Samina Chowdhury and many more. Listen to what the celebrities have to say and the differences the newcomers are bringing to the table about the three areas of “Celebrating Life”. Form opinions on the criticisms made or simply rejoice with the winners, all of whom are simply overjoyed to have been recognised and celebrated to an extent they had never imagined.
“Celebrating Life” is a yearly competition and its third iteration has just been launched in 2010 with the theme “Indomitable Bangladesh.” For more information, log on to www.celebratinglifebd.com.
