Watch Muktir Gaan - Bangla Documentary Film on Bangladesh Liberation War
|
This historic film uses a musical and narrative structure to tell the true story of a troupe of musicians traveling
through the refugee camps and zones of war during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. The film blends
documentary and fictional genres to tell the story of the birth of a nation and the ideals of secularism and tolerance
on which it was founded.
The filmmakers combined footage of the cultural troupe and their activities, shot by
American filmmaker Lear Levin in 1971, with historic footage collected from archives around the world to create
this unique film.
Featuring cultural squad members Mahmoodhur Rahman Benu, Shaheen Mahmood, Tariq Ali, Naila Zaman, Lubna
Marium, Swapan Chowdhury, Bipul Bhattacharya, Sharmin Murshid, Dulal Chandra Shil, Lata Chowdhury,
Debabrata Chowdhury and others. Also featured: Brig. (ret’d) Giashuddin Chowdhury Bir Bikram, Aminul Haque
Badsha and many nameless Freedom Fighters.
