Folk music concert in Magura by Momtaj

With her signature song “Faitya Jay” and many others, the uncrowned queen of folk songs, Momtaj, kept the audience spellbound at the Dhoail High School premises in Mohammadpur upazila (about 25 kms from the district town) on March 9 evening.

The singer, who is also a member of the parliament, rendered 17 songs to a cheering crowd of devoted fans and folk music enthusiasts.

The event was organised by the Asaduzzaman Smriti Sangsad of Magura. The concert followed a prize distribution ceremony for Asaduzzaman Memorial Football Tournament.

Thousands of music lovers, including women from remote areas of the district, thronged the venue to have a glance of the famed singer.

Earlier at a brief discussion, Magura unit of Awami League president Mohammad Altaf Hossain and Mohammadpur upazila AL general secretary Advocate Abdul Mannan spoke on life and works of the late Advocate Asaduzzaman. Asaduzzaman was elected four times as a member of the parliament during his lifetime.
