Srijons Monthly Bangla Musical Concert at National Museum

Cultural organisation Srijon arranged a musical soiree at Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National museum, Dhaka on March 28. This was the 80th programme by the organisation. Srijon organises a musical programme on the last Saturday of every month featuring performances by noted and upcoming artistes. This instalment marked the Independence Day.

Apart from Rabindra and Nazrul Sangeet, artistes performed songs of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, folk music and more.

The programme started with an instrumental presentation of a song — “Nongor tolo tolo” — aired on Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra throughout Liberation War. Kamrul Hassan Mahfuz played the tune on guitar.

Sohel Rashid performed two Tagore songs — “Modhuro bashonto eshechhey” and “Amaro poran jaha chaye.”

Rendition of a patriotic Nazrul Sangeet, “E ki aporup rupey” by Nasima Shaheen followed.

Next Rumana Islam performed a popular patriotic song “Haire amar mon matano desh” and “Jodi aar dekha nahi hoy.”

Ehtesham Shahjahan performed ‘adhunik’ classics — “Kotodin dekhi na tomaye” and “Keno durey thako.”

Among others, Parveen Kamal, Sultan Alam and Ahmed Newaz performed at the programme.

The event ended with renditions of folk songs by Rupu Khan.
