BAMBA protests at doing unauthorised business violating the Copyright Right

The Bangladesh Musical Bands Association on Sunday protested at unauthorised use of musical contents by a certain quarter without permission from the singers. The association leaders made the protest at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka.

BAMBA president Hamin Ahmed, vice-president Faud Naser Babu and its secretary Monirul Alam Tipu, eminent singers Ayub Bachchu, James and Sumon, among others, spoke at the programme. Representative of 37 music bands of the country were also present on the occasion.

The organisers said a quarter was doing business using musical contents, violating the Copyright Right Law of 2000. ‘The real creator of a song is being deprived of the benefits of their creative works because of the unauthorised uses of music,’ said Hamin Ahmed.

The organization requested the ministry of cultural affairs to include BAMBA as a member on the copy right board for the protection of the rights of artistes.
