Bangla Folk Singers enthralled the audience

A group of singers enthralled an evening audience singing old Bangla songs at the Shaukat Osman Memorial Auditorium of the Central Public Library in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Loko Sangeet Parishad organised the programme to mark the country’s National and Independence Day, celebrated on March 26.
The evening began with the song Dhane danya puspe bhara amaderi bashundhara. The other numbers of songs included Amar bhaiyer rakte rangano Ekushey February, Ora amar mukher katha, Je mathir buke ghumiye ache, Tirish Lakka jiban diyao, Ore Bangla amar janma bhumi re, O bhai Khati sonar cheye khati, Amar desher matan eman, Janma amar danya halo, Ektara tui desher katha, O amar Bangla Maa tor and many more.
‘I become nostalgic listening to the songs one after another. These songs helped me recall the historic movement of the Bengalis against the Pakistan led occupation forces in 1971′, said Sohan Ahmed.
Sayanta Khan, Tabassum Ria, AK Azad, HK Majumdar, Rezia Selim Kajal, Habibur Rahman, Faridul Haque, Chanchala Das Sathi, Shishir Adhikari, Masud Hawlader, Nasrin Hayat, Sharmin Hassan, Shahidul Islam Khokan, Ohama Akthar, Shamima Sultana Rita, Tamanna Nigar Tuli and Abdul Aziz, among others, sang songs in the programme.
The singers were assisted by SM Rafiqul Azad Khokan on the key board, Touhid Sarkar, Mafizur Rahman and Shahidul Islam on dotara and Santosh Kumar Das on the flute.
