Bashanta Diner Gaan Tagore musical concert by Shama Rahman

Shama Rahman, one of the leading Tagore artistes of the country, performed in a solo musical programme titled “Bashanta Din-er Gaan” at Bengal Gallery, on March 7, says a press release.
With flowers blooming all around, sprouting greenery from the tender branches; unbridled waves of wind from the south and impatient sweet songs of cuckoos, Shama rendered selective songs on spring of Tagore on the occasion.
“Ei udashi haowar”, “Pothey jetey jetey”, “Boney jadi phutlo kushum”, “Amar bha(n)ga pother”, “Tumi ektu kebol”, “Keno sharadin dhirey”, “Pushpa boney pushpa nahi”, “Kal rater bela”, “Oi janalar kachhey”, “Dhirey dhirey praney” and “Esho esho amar” were amongst her 20 songs that she rendered.

Shyama Rahman is a giant of Tagore songs along with Ridwana Chowdhury and Lili Islam. We especially appreciated your program with Shyama Rahman this morning Montreal time. She is not only an outstanding singer; she is also a wise person and very articulate in her expressions. My wife said that she is also a very sweet-looking person. I agree with my wife. We both have a question. We see her on Tara Muzik regularly. Why do we not see her on Bangladeshi TV often?
