A ‘Baul Samabesh’ (convention of bauls) was held at Mirpur slum in Sirajganj town on Monday night. The event was held to celebrate the beginning of spring.

Kangal - an organisation for local cultural activists and artistes - arranged the programme. Haidar Ali, a renowned baul singer of the area, presided over the programme.

Poet S.M. Hafiz, also convener of Kangal, attended at the programme as chief guest. Golam Mostafa Jibon, editor of the weekly Jibon Barta and secretary of Kangal, and baul singer Kashem Ali attended the programme as special guests.

Around 100 bauls from the vicinity and different corners of the country gathered at the ‘Baul Samabesh’ and rendered songs. The soiree was well attended by baul music enthusiasts.
