Nazrul Sangeet on the occasion of Nazrul’s 33rd death anniversary

Teachers and students of Chhayanaut performed Nazrul’s classic compositions on the occasion of the National Poet’s 33rd death anniversary (August 29) at Chhayanaut Sanskriti Bhaban Auditorium on August 20.
The artistes started with renditions of ragas, then moved on to Nazrul Sangeet based on the respective ragas.
Bijon Chandra Mistri performed ragas “Tilang” and “Khamaj” while Nabonita Chakraborti and Tanvir Ahmed followed with “E ki ashim piyasha” and “Kuhu kuhu koyelia” respectively.
Ashit dey rendered ragas “Multani” and “Bageshree.” Roksana Hussain and Alokananda Shubrita sang “Kar banshori bajey” and “Maago chinmoyee roop-e” respectively.
Priyanka Gope impressed the audience with her rendition of ragas “Miya ki Malhar” and “Tori.” Anindita Chowdhuri and Sharmin Shathi Islam performed “Barosha oi elo Barosha” and “Nayon mudilo kumodini,” based on the ragas respectively.
Anup Barua rendered ragas “Megh” and “Hambir,” while Rezaul Karim and Khairul Anam Shakil sang “Gagoney shaghano chomokichhey” and “Bolona oi shoi” respectively.
Fakir Shahidul Islam performed ragas “Behaag” and “Bhairavi.” Sumon Majumdar and Nasima Shaheen rendered “Nishi nijhum ghum” and “Shakhi aar obhiman” respectively.
Rezwan Ali presented ragas “Tilak Kamod” and “Natabehaag” that were followed by two choruses — “Srijan chhandey anandey” and “Rumjhum rumjhum nupur boley.”
Swarup Hussain and Badal Chowdhuri assisted the vocalists on tabla.
The programme ended with a rendition of the National Anthem.
