Pabna Shahid Shadhan Music College recalls its founder

Shahid Shadhan Music College, Pabna organised a discussion and public prayer at the college premises to mark the 8th death anniversary of Professor Mohammad Abdul Goni, founder principal of the college. The daylong programme was held last Thursday.
Principal of Shahid Shadhan Music College, Abdul Matin Khan chaired the discussion. Former Principal of Pabna Govt. Bulbul College Professor Shibojit Nag; trustee of Hindu Kalyan Trust, Ganesh Chandra Ghosh; cultural organiser Mohammad Abdul Aziz; author Sayeed Hassan Dara and Assistant Professor of Govt. Bulbul College Mohammad Akteruzzaman spoke on the life and work of Professor Goni at the discussion.
Professor Mohammad Abdul Goni devoted his entire life to education. He founded several educational institutions, most of which still teach a large number of students in the district. He was an enlightened man and tried to enlighten society, the speakers were of the view.
During post-Liberation War period, when many were busy promoting their own careers, Abdul Goni did not pursue material success. He wanted education to be accessible to everyone and was passionate about upholding the spirit of Liberation War. He named most of his institutions after individuals who were martyred during the war, speakers informed.
Shahid Shadhan Music College, at the district headquarters, is named after martyred artiste Golam Sarwar Shadhan. Government Bulbul College, another establishment founded by Professor Goni, still preserves the memory of martyred Freedom Fighter Bulbul.
