Shafin Ahmed says goodbye to Miles

There were rumors for last couple of days that Shafin Ahmed, the lead singer of the band, left the Miles. Shafin was unavailable to confirm this news. But recently he confirmed the news that he is leaving Miles. According to him “I am sure miles will be doing fine without me. Situation with in the band doesn’t allow me to continue further.”

Shafin Ahmed is an icon today in the music industry. Exceptional musical talent inherited from his legendary parents, Kamal Das Gupta and Feroza Begum combined with his own dedication applied over the last 28 years has established him permanently in the hearts and minds of millions of  Bangla music listeners around the world.

His words to his fans “ I am saying sorry to my fans. I understand they are hurting but its not that i had other ambitions. I was and still pround of what miles has given to the country’s music.”

Miles and Shafin Ahmed have many top ten Bangla Band super hits like Chad Tara Shurjo, Firiye Dao, Dhikkhi Dhikkhi, Jhala Jhala. Besides these, there are many other very popular songs that have been composed and sung by Shafin. Namely, Prothom Premer Moto, She Kon Darodia, Pahari Meye, Jadu, Kato Kaal Khujbo, Piyashi Mone, Palashir Prantor, Aj Jonmodin Tomar, Protikkha, Gatio Sangiter Ditio Line, Kotodin Dekhini Tomae, Prethebi Amare Chay, Tumi Ki Akhon Dekhecho Swapon, Adda, Uchaton Ei Monta, Rat Nijoom, Fire Fire Chai, Opriotoma, Tare Bhalobasha Dao etc.

It suggest that there were problems among the members for quite sometime now. But breaking up a band as miles is very unfortunate for a well organized senior band like Miles. Bitterness is as such that shafin stated ”Thery are scared of my progress in music. Trying to scare my musicians. Trying to stop my shows”.

He also said “You need soul satisfaction in doing music. I will definately be doing music in my own way, and you’ll see me soon.”  Miles is probably one of the most popular among the bangla pop bands in bangladesh. This is very unfortunate for a band like miles to break up in such a way. We including the fans are sadden but we all wish good luck to both Shafin and Miles.
