Tagore and Nazrul songs concert

A musical soiree of Tagore and Nazrul songs, by the promising singers of the country, was held Tuesday evening at the auditorium of the National Music and Dance Centre of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segun Bagicha in the city.
Member of Parliament Chayan Islam inaugurated the programme as chief guest and the director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Kamal Lohani, chaired the function.
Chayan Islam in his speech appreciated the organisers for arranging this kind of programmes and also hoped that the Shilpakala Academy would take more initiatives to encourage the younger artistes by arranging several programmes of this kind.
Kamal Lohani in his speech hoped that the young singers who participated in the function would get confidence and they would do better in the future.
Giving example of the recently held folk drama festival, organised by Shilpakala, he further said, ‘the Shilpakala Academy is taking initiatives to bridge the gap with common people.
Twelve singers from different parts of the country delighted the audience by singing Tagore and Nazrul songs. The event started with the Tagore’s Amar hiyar majhe lukiye chile sung by Sonia Sharmin Eti of Mymensingh.
Pradip Kumar Nandi sang the Nazrul song Barasha mone lage dol. Tasnova Salmin Urmi, Poly Guha, Rumana Sharmin, Chhanda Chakravarti, Ahmed Shakil Hashmi, and Nasrin Jahan, among others, sang at the programme.
