Traditional indigenous songs in Panchagarh book fair

Artistes of Panchagarh Adibashi Kalyan Samity (Welfare Association for Indigenous People) performed at cultural progra-mme on Monday evening at the weeklong book fair, held at Martyred Freedom Fighters’ Monument premises in Panchagarh town.

The cultural programme featured traditional indigenous songs, dances and recitation.

Indigenous artistes rendered patriotic Bangla as well as songs in their own language.

Barna Baz Mardi, Shusil Hemrom, Janaram Mardi, Shibcharan Mardi, Shanti Hemrom, Laxmi Rani, Albina Mardi, Sobina Mormu and Supen Hebrom performed at the programe.

General Secretary of Adibashi Kalyan Samity, Rajoni Kanta Mardi, conducted the programme.

Prior to the cultural programme, Surjaram Mardi and Horimohan Pahan delivered their speeches in Santali and Munda language respectively. Rajoni Kanta Mardi interpreted the speeches.

Earlier, Bidrohi Shishu Kishore Theatre of Pancha-garh held another cultural programme, titled “A Gaan Amar Bhasher Jonno” at the same venue.

Hundreds of enthusiastic viewers enjoyed the programmes organised by Panchagarh District Administration.
