The fair was arranged to commemorate Baul Bishu Shah, a renowned folk singer of the area. Noted Baul singer Farida Parvin enthralled the audience at the programme. Local musicians also rendered baul songs at the fair.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Chuadanga Moazzem Hossain inaugurated the event.
According to BSBA, Bishu Shah, was one of the closest associates of Fakir Lalon Shah. Born in 1870, Bishu died in 1933 and was buried in his village where a shrine was built. Later, an academy was established in 1980 after his name. A permanent stage is also there for holding different programmes. A library has been set up to store different books on folk culture and to train the bauls.
