Two day long Japanese folk music concert begins in Dhaka

A two-day concert of Japanese folk music by Japanese folk singers will begin on december 7, 2009 at 5:30pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka.

Information and cultural affair minister Abul Kalam Azad will inaugurate the programme to be attended, among others, by Japanese ambassador Tamotsu Shinotsuka, said a press release.

The Japanese musicians will present Min’yo or folk songs that are considered a window of life for the Japanese common people.

Performances will also include topic-based seasonal songs, songs of working people and playing of some traditional Japanese instruments including Shamisen, Shakuhach and Taiko.

Japanese and Bangladeshi musicians together will perform fusion musical numbers in view of exchanging musical understanding of the two nations.

The event, jointly organised by Japan Foundation, Embassy of Japan in Dhaka and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, will begin at 6:30pm on December 9 for the public.
