Khodar Premey Bangla Music Album

Khodar Premey, an album of Islami songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam by artiste Kalpona Anam was released recently.
The album includes some celebrated songs such as Khodar premey sharab piye, Zarin Horofey Lekha, Dur Azaner modhur dhani, Hera hote hele duley, Tribhuboner priyo Mohammad and others. Khodar Premey is released by Laser Vision. The music of the album is arranged by Durbadol Chattopadhyay.
“For many years, I had a plan to release an album on the Islami songs by Nazrul. Considering the solemn atmosphere in the holy month of Ramadan, I though it would be the perfect time,” artiste Kalpona Anam said.
“Personally, I was always fascinated by these compositions by Nazrul which are generally termed as Islami songs. Then again, Nazrul’s Islami songs are rich in variety, some are purely Ghazal based, some are Kawalis, some are even based on various raagas, and some shows a blend of different sub-genre. I tried to include some in my album. Indeed, all the ten songs in the album are my all time favourites,” she added.
Kalpona Anam is a regular teacher of Nazrul Sangeet in Chhayanat. Her pursuit for music began at an early age and she received awards from several children’s competition. She enrolled as a student at Chhayanat and completed a 5-year course in Nazrul songs. She was awarded with a certificate in Music with distinction. She is the disciple of personalities such as Anjali Roy, Sohrab Hossain, Nilima Das, Sudhin Das, Selina Hossain, Ashit De and Indian classical guru Muhammad Sagiruddin Khan. She always had a favourable atmosphere for her music at home that further flourished after she got married with eminent Nazrul artiste Khairul Anam Shakil.
Kalpona has a number of albums to her credit such as Deep Nibhiyachhe Jhore (Nazrul songs) by Bengal Foundation, Mora ar Jonome (Nazrul songs, duet album by Khairul Anam Shakil and Kalpona), Ganga Shindhu Normoda (Nazrul songs) by P&M records, Kolkata and others.
