|
The album Jugolshondhi features some very renowned singers of the country such as Fahmida Nabi, Krishnokoli, Shakil Anam, Samina Chowdhury, Lucky Akhond, Partho Barua and Swani Zubayeer.
The tracks are remarkable for their melody-based composition. Each song has a soothing impact that lingers even after the last few bars have finished playing. Some of the songs have the touch of oldies, like the tracks four and nine two versions of the song chhottomeye male version sung by sung both by Swani Zubayeer and female version by Krishnokoli remind of old melodies.
The title song of the album is sung by Fahmida Nabi. The lyrics of the song Jugolshondhi that goes ‘chhelei khoreni maatir modur jol/meyeti kokhono pore nai naakchhabi/chheleti tobuo gay jiboner gaan/meyetike dekhi akaki attohara’ is written by poet Abul Hasan. Nabi has beautifully rendered the song in her soothing controlled melodious voice.
Other songs of the album; ‘Insomnia’ and ‘Golper chholey’ by Swani Zubayeer, ‘Kachhe Ashbo’ by Shakil Ahmed, ‘Tomaye Ami’ by Partho Barua, ‘Sritir Kagoj’ by Lucky Akhond, ‘Shondha boye gelo’ by Samina Chowdhury are a delight to listen to.
The uniqueness of this album lies in its last two tracks; track ten and eleven. While number ten ‘The Golden Land’ is an orchestral work, track eleven ‘To thee, is the end of all journies’ is electro-acoustic music both performed by Swani Zubayeer.
Zubayeer mentions that ‘The Golden Land’, the ten minute track is a result of an eight hundred hour endeavour. In this work, shadows from six different ragas; Malkaunse, Des, Mixed pahari, Kedar, Sohini and Vasant are used in a western setup, in an effort to bring out the characteristics of the seasons of Bangladesh.
Track eleven, ‘To thee, is the end of all journies’ carries is a beautiful piece of music. It will take you a different world where you feel nature as closely and as intimately as a heartbeat.
All the music of this album is tuned, arranged and composed by Swani Zubayeer and the lyrics are by Md Rafiquzzaman. The flawless effort of the experienced artistes has really made it an album worth listening to.
